Modern Slavery and Human Trafficking Statement
This Modern Slavery and Human Trafficking Statement sets out the steps Wandsworth Cleaners has taken, and continues to take, to prevent modern slavery and human trafficking within our business operations and supply chains. Wandsworth Cleaners is committed to acting ethically and with integrity in all our relationships and to implementing and enforcing effective systems and controls to ensure modern slavery does not occur.
Our Zero-Tolerance Policy
Wandsworth Cleaners maintains a zero-tolerance policy towards all forms of modern slavery, servitude, forced or compulsory labour, and human trafficking. This applies to our own operations, our workforce, and every organisation that forms part of our supply chain. We will not knowingly work with any supplier, contractor, or partner that is involved in or associated with modern slavery practices.
All managers and supervisors are responsible for promoting awareness of this policy, ensuring that workers are treated lawfully and fairly, and escalating any concerns without delay. We expect the same standard from all parties we engage with, regardless of their size or geographic location.
Supply Chain Standards and Supplier Audits
Our cleaning services rely on a network of suppliers that may provide equipment, materials, and subcontracted services. To reduce the risk of modern slavery in our supply chains, Wandsworth Cleaners requires suppliers to comply with all applicable labour, employment, and human rights laws in the jurisdictions in which they operate.
We assess new suppliers through a risk-based due diligence process, which may include requesting relevant policies, reviewing labour practices, and confirming compliance with our ethical standards. Where we identify higher-risk activities, we undertake more detailed checks and seek additional assurances.
Wandsworth Cleaners reserves the right to carry out audits of suppliers to verify compliance with our modern slavery requirements. These audits may be conducted directly by Wandsworth Cleaners or by an independent assessor. Where non-compliance is identified, we will work with the supplier to implement corrective actions within a defined timeframe. If sufficient improvements are not made, we may suspend or terminate the business relationship.
Employee Awareness and Reporting Channels
We are committed to ensuring that all employees, including temporary and agency staff, understand the standards expected of them and the seriousness of modern slavery risks. Relevant policies, including our modern slavery and whistleblowing policies, are communicated as part of induction and made accessible to all staff.
Wandsworth Cleaners encourages a culture of openness in which workers feel safe to raise concerns about potential modern slavery or unethical labour practices. Concerns can be reported to line managers, senior management, or through designated internal reporting channels. Reports can be made in confidence and will be taken seriously, investigated promptly, and handled with sensitivity.
Retaliation against any person who raises a concern in good faith is strictly prohibited. Disciplinary action may be taken against any employee found to be involved in modern slavery or who fails to report suspected abuses where it would be reasonable to do so.
Continuous Improvement and Annual Review
Wandsworth Cleaners recognises that combating modern slavery is an ongoing responsibility. We are committed to continuous improvement in our approach to identifying, preventing, and addressing modern slavery and human trafficking risks.
This Modern Slavery Statement is reviewed annually by the senior management team to assess its effectiveness and to respond to any emerging risks or changes in legislation. As part of this review, we consider feedback from our workforce, the outcomes of any supplier audits, and any reported incidents or investigations carried out during the year.
Where appropriate, we will update our policies, procedures, and training to strengthen our controls and improve awareness. Our objective is to ensure that Wandsworth Cleaners remains a responsible and ethical employer and business partner, committed to protecting the rights and dignity of all those who work for and with us.
This statement has been approved by the management of Wandsworth Cleaners and constitutes our Modern Slavery and Human Trafficking Statement for the current financial year.
